Located in Edina’s rapidly evolving Southdale District, The Finch represents a new generation of multifamily housing that combines thoughtful design, sustainability, and community-centered living within a vibrant residential environment. The seven-story development features 276 apartment homes, ground-level retail space, hospitality-inspired amenities, and direct access to Fred Richards Park and the Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail.
Developed by Solhem Companies, The Finch was envisioned as more than a luxury apartment building. The project pairs modern multifamily living with inclusive design principles, meaningful connections to nature, and a commitment to environmental responsibility. Achieving National Green Building Standard (NGBS) Silver certification, the development establishes a new benchmark for sustainable and community-focused housing in the Twin Cities market.
Building the Foundation
One of the defining achievements of The Finch was its accelerated construction schedule. Molin Concrete Products supplied nearly 40,000 square feet of architectural and structural wall panels, nearly 120,000 square feet of hollowcore plank, and a complete system of precast beams, columns, and solid slabs that formed the podium structure supporting five stories of wood-framed residential construction above.
The integrated precast solution provided the structural efficiency and installation speed needed to keep the project moving forward while supporting an aggressive construction schedule.

Architectural wall panels incorporating Endicott Manganese Ironspot Velour utility thin brick and buff-colored etched formliner finishes arrived on site ready for installation, creating a durable and visually distinctive podium while minimizing field-applied materials and labor. The result was a refined architectural expression that complements both the building’s contemporary design and its park-side setting.
Molin’s Field Operations showcased the speed of precast construction, erecting more than 24,000 square feet of wall panels in just eight working days and rapidly installing key structural elements, including the elevator shaft in less than a day.
